Day 01: Arrival back to top
Arrival transfer from Juan Santamaría International Airport to your hotel.
Night at Double Tree Cariari by Hilton, Standard Room.
Double Tree Cariari Hotel: is located 10 minutes away from the airport and at only 20 minutes from San Jose. The hotel has 174 guest rooms and 48 suites including 24 Royal Suites with a more personalized service. All rooms include air conditioning, cable TV, telephone, coffee maker, mini bar, safe deposit box, iron, ironing board, internet access, bathroom with a bathtub and hair dryer. The property also offers two restaurants, bar, casino, swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna, beauty parlor, souvenir shop, business center with 11 meeting and banqueting halls, laundry, room service, medical services, golf course, 10 tennis course and gym.
Day 02: Pacuare River Rafting back to top
Breakfast at the hotel. 7:00 am: Early morning pick?up at the hotel lobby. Transportation service (approximately two and a half hours) to Pacuare river put?in.
Exciting one and a half hour river rafting tour to Pacuare Lodge (class II?III rapids), where you will enjoy a one night stay at this Costa Rica's premier eco?lodge.
Arrival to the Pacuare Lodge between 12:00 ? 1:00 pm. After lunch, you can take an optional canopy tour (not included in package price), the waterfall hike or simply relax in your private bungalow. Dine on gourmet delicacies by candlelight and then visit the upstairs lounge for a cocktail or refreshment before leaving to a restful night's sleep.
Overnight at Pacuare Lodge, River View Room.
The Pacuare Lodge: In the Caribbean region of Costa Rica, there is a protected zone of incomparable beauty that begins near the town of Siquirres and covers approximately 25,000 acres as it descends down the Talamanca Mountain Range.
Deep inside this protected zone, perched on the banks of its enchanting Pacuare River, lies the singular Pacuare Lodge. You can arrive to the lodge either by river or by land, or a combination of the two. Arrival by river takes you along scenic class III rapids, and departure by river allows you to experience the magnificence of this zone's canyons and primary rainforest, via class III and IV rapids. You may also plan your arrival by ground transportation through impressive scenery and cross the river on a hanging gondola. A departure by ground transportation is also available, providing an alternative for families and others guests who prefer dry land, or would like to avoid the more challenging rapids.
The lodge offers 19 bungalows of different categories. All bungalows were built with special attention to the hillside's topography and are equipped with solar heated shower, private terrace and hardwood flooring; some of these bungalows have a private deck with a pool. In addition, the main building features a restaurant, an open kitchen and a cozy lounge bar. Many optional activities and tours such as the Canopy Adventure Tour, a visit to the Cabecar indian comunity, a day–break walk or a massage treatments are also available. The Pacuare Lodge's philosophy is a simplistic luxury and oneness with nature. One important thing to know... there is no electricity in the lodge. All packages include transportation, river rafting, bilingual guides, gourmet meals and lodging.
Day 03: Sarapiquí back to top
Breakfast at the lodge. Departure from the lodge between 9:00 and 10:00 am, by raft for an even more fun?filled day of white water rating excitement (approximately 31½ hours over class III?IV rapids), including a delicious picnic lunch along the river. At the river take?out, you will have a chance to change clothes before driving to Sarapiqui area.

Sarapiqui stands out for its primary forests, swamps, and plantations, in a biologically rich territory. With temperatures between 26°C and 28°C, this hot, humid land can be explored by way of the dense network of trails within the protected areas, important for the conservation of birds, butterflies, felines, insects and plants.
Night at La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge, Superior Room.
La Quinta de Sarapiqui Lodge: Owned by a Costa Rican family, this lodge is located in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, an hour and a half drive from San Jose. It has 31 guestrooms scattered though out the property and equipped with ceiling fan, telephone, safe deposit box, hair dryer and shaded porch. La Quinta offers an excellent restaurant of home made style food, bar, swimming pool, trails through a reforested area to the Sardinal river, an exhibition of local insects, a collection of pre?Columbian art, a replica of an old Costa Rican house, a frog land, a butterfly garden, a vegetable garden, gift shop, laundry, internet access at the reception and private parking. The hotel has a three level rating in the CST (Certification in Sustainable Tourism Program) for its sustainable tourism achivements.
Day 04: Sarapiquí back to top
After breakfast, drive to Hacienda Pozo Azul where you will enjoy three exciting activities: a 12?cables and 17?platform canopy, horseback riding and rappelling on the Sarapiqui river canyon, with a spectacular view of the confluence of the Sarapiquí and Pozo Azul rivers. Lunch included.

Day 05: Sarapiquí ? Arenal back to top
After breakfast, drive to Arenal area.
Few sites in Costa Rica inspire more respect and admiration than the Arenal Volcano. Sometimes lava can be seen flowing from its interior and, if Mother Nature permits, you may have the pleasure of seeing a spectacular eruption. However, often the peak will be covered by clouds. Check in at your hotel and then visit the thermal waters of Tabacón where you will be able to benefit from their curing effects.

Night at Arenal Springs, Standard Room.
Arenal Springs: It is located on the way to Arenal Volcano National Park, in a very quiet property, half a mile from the main road. The hotel has 87 Junior Suites including 12 especially designed for disabled guests, with view to the active side of the Arenal Volcano. Each room is surrounded with exotic gardens, beautiful flowers and many species of birds. All of them are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fan, cable TV, telephone, mini refrigerator, coffee maker, safe deposit box and hair dryer. The hotel offers a restaurant, two swimming pools, wet bar, room service, laundry, internet access, trails, horseback riding tours and private parking for each room.
Day 06: Arenal ? Rincón de la Vieja back to top
After breakfast, drive to the Arenal Hanging Bridges site for a Natural History Walk Tour.
Three kilometers of safe trails, where you will be able to admire the great diversity of flora typically of the rainforest and watch a great amount of birds as this project is located within the corridor followed by birds migrating between North and South America. You will be able to walk right into the forest, thanks to the imposing hanging bridges and the beautiful trails that are safe and easy to walk on.
In the afternoon, drive to Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area to Hacienda Guachipelin. Located at the foot of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, near the town of Curubande, in the Province of Guanacaste. The Hacienda borders the popular Rincón de la Vieja National Park.
Since 1985, Hacienda Guachipelin has also been hosting a steady flow of visitors, helping them enjoy the natural beauty of the ranch and the neighboring national park. Natural hot springs, virgin forests, jungle waterfalls and volcanic mud pots are just some of the many attractions tourists can enjoy staying at the Hacienda Guachipelin.

Hacienda Guachipelin Hotel: It is located at the foot of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, near the town of Curubande, Guanacaste. Hacienda Guachipelin continues its traditional work of raising cattle and horses. It has 52 rooms: 30 standard, 18 superior and four junior suites, all of them have ceiling fan and safety box. The hotel offers a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, internet access and parking. For the adventurer, there are many activities in the lodge like horseback riding, the Canyon canopy tour, Rio Negro Tubing Adventure, bird watching, as well as trekking to the active craters of the Rincón de la Vieja Volcano.
Day 07: Rincón de la Vieja back to top
Breakfast. Activities included today: Rio Negro Tubing Adventure: First, ride through the forest for 45 minutes, then get your equipment ready, and go down the waters of Rio Negro for 90 minutes full of adrenaline. At the end you return on horseback for a period of 45 minutes. The Canyon Tour: Tour is a must do. Glide through the Rio Blanco Canyon, climb walls, try the Tarzan swing. It is a great adventure.

Day 08 ? 11: Sugar Beach back to top
Breakfast. Drive to the North Pacific Coast to enjoy a three?day stay relaxing in beautiful Sugar Beach.
Night at Sugar Beach Hotel, Standard room.
Hotel Sugar Beach is on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in the Guanacaste Province, a Northwestern region of Costa Rica. The beach remains secluded and pristine.
The Guanacaste coast is the driest in Costa Rica, with daily sunshine guaranteed mid?December through mid?April. Water sports are available year round. Popular activities at or near the hotel include scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing, sport fishing, boogie boarding and surfing.
Day 11: Sugar Beach ? San José back to top
